Just 120 days now stand between me and a planning-free lifestyle!<br />
<br />
I'm going to preface this post with: This is not intended for anyone specifically and I am not trying to be ugly....<br />
<br />
Now, with that said: *Approach Soapbox* Here goes...<br />
<br />
Wedding Planning, YOU SUCK! People say that this is supposed to be a marvelous time in your life and that it will all be worth it. Well, when people say that about pregnancy, I get it...you get a HUMAN BEING out of the 9 months of carrying, planning, etc. I understand that planning a wedding is not quite as physically daunting, but for the past 12 months, mentally and emotionally, it's putting me through the ringer. I do know that the day will be amazing...all 5 hours of it, I'm sure, but I don't know that I'll look back and say "wow, that was totally worth it all." Stay tuned as I'll be sure to write a post about it at that point, but like I said, I just can't imagine those words coming out of this mouth. I feel as if this has turned into Bride vs. Everyone.... All I want is for everyone to be happy, but wait a second...isn't this the one day in a woman's life that is supposed to be 100% about her? I'm writing all this down so that if I have a daughter I remember to come back and read what I felt at this time.<br />
I pulled out my back this week (true story) and I did it from bending over backwards for everyone else (that part's just me being dramatic!). Really though, I feel like as if I am going out of my way to please my friends, bridal party, parents, in-laws, venues, vendors, dogs, cats, random strangers walking down the street....you name it! And I'm SO.OVER.IT!!!!!!<br />
<br />
*Step down from soapbox*<br />
<br />
Whew - thanks! Needed to get that off my chest! I resolved this week to just say ok to anything and everything. From here on out, I don't care what goes on the tables, what goes in the envelopes, what the bouquets are made of, what the people wear, etc. I'm just going to breathe, smile and remember that I am going to marry my best friend and go on a fantastic, adventuresome and relaxing honeymoon with him. Now I DO know why people take honeymoons now! That, you definitely deserve!<br />
<br />
Little sisters, friends that have yet to get hitched and any random man and/or woman reading this....I have two words for you:<br />
DESTINATION WEDDING!!!!!<br />
<br />
Coulda, woulda, shoulda! ;)<br />
<br />
Now for a little update:<br />
<br />
1. We put an offer in on a house, but someone else beat us to it. :( But, we're going on a marathon hunt on Sunday with our realtor and I'm looking forward to it. Everything happens for a reason, so that just means there's an even better place out there for us! Hopefully the kitchen is just as amazing!!<br />
<br />
2. Lisa's Likes: I came across a pretty cool website a week or so ago...it's called <a href="http://hungrygirl.com/">http://hungrygirl.com/</a>. It's a website full of yumm-o healthy recipes and tips. I just love it and hope to make some of the recipes soon!<br />
Going right along with healthy options, pinterest has given me a couple of great recipe options as well.... I made these two last weekend and they have both been fantastic, quick and super healthy breakfast options.<br />
~1. Green Monster Smoothie: So Yum!!<br />
- 2-3 bananas<br />
- frozen mangos, peaches, pineapples<br />
- 2-3 cups spinach (I haven't tried other veggies yet but I hear carrots & cucumber work too!)<br />
- 1/4 cu. greek yogurt (optional)<br />
- 1 cup fat free milk (optional)<br />
- ice and water as needed for desired consistency<br />
Blend them all together and voila! You have a green monster. It's nutritious and delicious. Don't be concerned...if you add berries, nuts (another option I've heard used) or certain veggies, you'll get a brownish monster. It should still be just as yummy!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uhydWpnp_yI/TyIIYytw8iI/AAAAAAAAA20/VZZ_0eqJAfs/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uhydWpnp_yI/TyIIYytw8iI/AAAAAAAAA20/VZZ_0eqJAfs/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I freeze them and pop it in the micro for about 1 min in the AM and have a delish breakfast! They're also great if you're craving ice cream or sweet treat!<br /><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
~2. Egg McMuffin's (Not the McD way, but the clean way!)<br />
- egg whites<br />
- any seasoning and veggies you want (I used pepper, garlic, sea salt, spinach and onion)<br />
Mix egg white beaters with your veggies and seasoning. Spray down your muffin tin or use cupcake liners and then pour in mixture. I baked at 350 for about 20 minutes. Use the toothpick test to check if they're done: place toothpick through middle and if it comes out dry, you're good to go!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f1VFq50SjoU/TyIIcfoupqI/AAAAAAAAA28/dSfScml-aJY/s1600/photo+2-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f1VFq50SjoU/TyIIcfoupqI/AAAAAAAAA28/dSfScml-aJY/s320/photo+2-1.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I don't even know where to begin with how fast, yummy and healthy this is!<br /><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>

Things I'm looking forward to in 2012:<br />
-Buying a house<br />
-Getting married!<br />
-Going on my honeymoon<br />
-Turning 7 - that's right - I have a real birthday this year!! Woo hoo!!<br />
-Being done with wedding planning!!!!!!!!!<br />
-Starting the rest of my life with the one I love<br />
<br />
Resolutions:<br />
How many of you make new year's resolutions? I don't like to call them resolutions so much as goals for the upcoming year. Some of my major goals I hope to accomplish are:<br />
-Being a better blogger - I'm not off to the best start, but I'd like to start blogging more frequently. I really enjoy the outlet!<br />
-Creating more! Thanks to pinterest I've been inspired and I'm proud to say that I am actually a pinner that can say: "I've made some of the things on my pinterest page!" There are so many great gift and craft ideas for the home and I'm excited about moving into our new home, so that I actually have some room to create and let my inspirations flow!<br />
-Making healthier choices - this is really an ongoing goal. I'm always looking for easy, delicious ways to be healthier as well as finding fun, interactive ways to be more fit.<br />
-With the last goal in mind, I've already come up with a fun way to keep active! 12-n-12! It's the year 2012 now and the past 2 years I've run a half marathon and done a couple of 5k's. My goal in 2012 is to run 12 races, with at least 1 being a half marathon! My first race of the year will be Jan. 28, which will be a 5k. Then another 5k in February - the color run...look it up! I can't wait!!!! March and April aren't scheduled just yet, because of trying to schedule my wedding showers, but I plan to get it all worked out this weekend! I'll probably also do the 10K at cowtown in Ft. Worth, the weekend before my real birthday! yay!<br />
-Being the best I can be as a wife and a mom to our fur-babies! I'm always trying to improve myself and my home!<br />
<br />
Make 2012 the best year yet! I think taking things back to simplicity is one of the most amazing things anyone can do! When you just stop, breathe, take in the moment and believe, the simplicity of life will overwhelm you!<br />
<br />
Love,<br />

<br />
Christmas is always a time I look forward to. It used to be my favorite time of year, it still is but in a different way. As I mentioned in my last post, as I've gotten older, I've really come to see the real meaning in Christmas and though gift exchanges and holiday parties are fun and festive, it's so important to remember the real reason for the season.<br />
<br />
I don't know if my whole family felt the same this year, or if it just wound up working out this way, but we kind of went back to the basics, so to speak. We do holidays BIG at our house. My parents are both from huge families and we've been fortunate to have close family friends in the area that may as well be family. Before this year, I can't remember one where there were less than at least 10 people. It's always tons of fun and tons of laughter. This year was a little different. I think the realization is starting to hit my parents (and B's for that matter) that we'll be married in a few short months and, well, sad to say, but this would probably be the last Christmas for each of our parent's to have us to themselves. So, Brandon went home to spend some time with his parents and I packed up the fur-kids and headed to mine.<br />
<br />
We didn't invite anyone for dinner this year and on Christmas eve, my dad cooked a ham and mac & cheese. Jokingly, he said "Mmmm...we should eat this tonight because it looks to yummy to wait until tomorrow." And then someone, I think my mom maybe, chimed in with "well, let's just do Christmas tonight and then we'll do church tomorrow and then relax the rest of the day." To which I replied: "YES!"<br />
<br />
So we had a casual dinner, while watching <i>Sound of Music</i> on TV. Which that in itself was hilarious because B was watching the same with his parents in LR and kept texting me with all the absurd lines in the movie that he hadn't noticed before. :) Then, we opened our traditional Christmas jammies and then the rest of our gifts! :) Well, actually before that our parents took one last picture of their 3 Rosso girls at the top of the stairs, since next year I'll be a Turner! After presents we ate some dessert, snuggled up and watched another movie. It was a perfect day!<br />
<br />
The next morning we went to church, took the dogs to the park and then dad made our "Christmas dinner". His homemade pizza! MMMMMMM. Talk about untraditional! But, we sat around the table and had us a feast! It was delish. Then we went and saw <i>We Bought a Zoo</i> at the theater. Um - FANTASTIC movie!<br />
<br />
So, basically it was full of relaxing and just enjoying the 5 of us. It's been a long time since we've taken it easy and just enjoyed each other's company. The perfect Christmas indeed!<br />
<br />
Update: It's now 2 weeks later and I'm just getting back to this blog...oops! Being busy is fun, but whew - looking forward to things slowing down after May!<br />
<br />
So - last bit about Christmas...<br />
<br />
Brandon and I decided to not exchange presents this year. We're house shopping and just paid for our honeymoon...so yeah.... Then he asked "so, are we really not exchanging gifts or are you saying that and then getting me a gift and expecting one from me?" I appreciated that - means he's learning! ;) So, I mentioned that I had gotten a couple of things for him, but explained they were things he needed and we would have bought soon anyway, so I just wrapped them so he had something to unwrap.<br />
Now, before I mention what he got me, I should mention that B isn't the most romantic boy in the world...it's not a bad thing because then when he <i>does</i> do something super sweet, it means that much more. He went creative on me! I didn't even know he had it in him, but he does! Now he's in trouble because I know what he's capable of! Mwahahaha.<br />
<br />
He spent maybe $10 but it's the most meaningful gift I've ever received:<br />
<br />
First you need to know - I have an obsession with cute costume-like jewelry and second, I have a jewelry organization disability if you will... It seems that for the life of me I can't keep two earrings in a pair and it's because I don't have a good place for them. They get mixed up and clumped together in jewelry boxes and so a year or so ago, B joked and said "my mom keeps her jewelry in a tackle box" and I thought to myself "genius". I mean - each pair of earrings could have their own individual space then. Well, he got me my tackle box, but he took it to the next level!<br />
<br />

<br />

<br />
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but he made the tackle box the "husband box" complete with instructions. And he said "I did this on my own - I didn't even look on pinterest!" Oh, how I love that boy. Each compartment has a task or gesture, so if I wear the jewelry from that day, he has to do whatever the label says. A few examples of some of the compartments: back/shoulder massage, shopping trip, random compliment generator, gas fill up, flowers, chick flick movie pass, etc. It was so cute and the instructions/letter it came with had me all misty-eyed. I love that feeling!<br />
The only problem is that now I stare at my jewelry trying to figure out not only what I want to wear, but also what I might want from the husband box! It's doubled my "get ready" time! Totally worth it though!<br />
<br />
Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! Happy 2012!<br />
<br />

And watching Glee! Oh - and I tried upgrading our internet tonight and talked to an English speaking cust. service rep (which is reason to celebrate on it's own) but he informed me that U-verse is now available at our casa. So see ya later TWC - you suck and it will not make me sad to see you go!!!<br />
<br />
In other news...I'm sad to say I've been called a grinch a time or two this holiday season... Let me defend myself: I'm a firm believer in reserving November for Thanksgiving and then celebrating Christmas all December long. I just feel that the reason for the season is lost so much sometimes and the fact that people don't even take a second to enjoy and give Thanks during November and instead want to fight the crowds, push people and buy! buy! BUY! It just beats me down a little. I know that sounds harsh and I know that the majority of the people I surround myself with are nothing like that, and sure, I'll give you the fact that the deals are amazing, but give me the option to relax with some holiday treats and hot chocolate and have good conversation with great company or stand in a line to get 1/2 off a TV or some other electronic, I'll pick laughing with my family and watching football any time! I guess the older I get the more I realize how lucky I've been all my life and how wonderful my family always made the holidays and as life goes by faster and faster, I just want to take those moments in a little more.<br />
<br />
Another reason I think I'be been called out is probably because I still have a pumpkin centerpiece and fall flowers in all my vases. I will admit that Christmas decorating is not on my list AT ALL right now and honestly, I don't foresee a tree or lights in our humble abode's future this season. It's a little sad, but I keep telling myself that this time next year, I'll be settled in my new job, married and in our new home and we'll go totally overboard and make up for this year! Deal? ;) And don't get me wrong - I'm totally thrilled about this holiday season...so much so that I made everyone stop in dwntwn ft. worth when it was freezing a couple of weekends ago to get these pictures:<br />

Yup - Ft. Worth is purty, isn't it?!? It's my new home away from home too... I recently made a huge change and left NSAI to take a job in downtown Fort Worth. I was at NSAI for about 3.5 years and I'd equate leaving my friends there to breaking up with my first love! Ok, so maybe it wasn't that intense, but it definitely goes down as one of the hardest things I've ever had to do! I had an AMAZING group of friends there and I cried a LOT when I had to leave them, but after 3 days at my new company, I know I've made the right decision for my career! I don't think the people at the new place will ever give my NSAI family a run for their money, but the good news is that I know I'll always be friends that group! They really outdid themselves as well when wishing me farewell...it totally made me cry even more, but it was SO sweet and made me laugh as well!<br />

Wedding updates: Brandon's parents came to stay with us over Thanksgiving and we were able to show them the venue and do a cake tasting with them. What fun! We decided on a cake/baker, so we have 1 more thing off of our list. Now I just need to finish the labels for the save-the-dates and then they'll be in the mail! I can't believe how close it's getting. It seems like it's crunch time and there is so much to do, but I can't seem to find the time to do it all. I have a feeling it will all fall into place soon though.<br />

Also, wish us luck - we're going house hunting this weekend and I have my fingers and toes crossed that we find our home! Already tired of driving 1+ hour each way to and from work and so ready to have a yard so I can get my little Timmy back! I think he's having fun with Aunt Becca though! :) They snuggle lots. </div>

I'll have to tell you all about my wonderful weekend to Philly next time, but overwhelmed as he may have been, I think B had a good time. He asked me at one point "how do you keep all these people straight?!" I think that's a sign that I need to make him some flash cards before the wedding because he still hasn't met more than half of my family and he's already losing track! God Bless the Irish/Italian Catholics...with so many people, there's never a dull moment! haha.</div>

I think it's time for bed. The rest of the week is looking increasingly busy and I might as well get some ZZ's in while I still can. December is my last month to take it easy and come January, everything will be going into full speed: wedding planning, showers, bachelorette parties, travels, moving, etc... I don't know if I've mentioned this, but man, I can't wait until May 27th! I know that once we get back from the honeymoon something will surely come up and life will be just as busy again, but I'm looking forward to our 2 week break in between the nuptials and the going back to reality...as MRS. TURNER! Yippee!!<br />

Pajamas. Wine. And the clincher? LMN! And for those of you that don't know what that is...Lifetime Movie Network. Sigh....ladies, you've all been there. Pity party! Ah yeah!<br />
<br />
So the boy is out of town at a video game tournament. And I have at least 100 things on my to-do list, but on this chilly evening all I could manage was a glass of wine and some lifetime movies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x-JjV_-aYcw/Tr3rBkOoYuI/AAAAAAAAAu8/GmklGU7NrMk/s1600/meandmywine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x-JjV_-aYcw/Tr3rBkOoYuI/AAAAAAAAAu8/GmklGU7NrMk/s200/meandmywine.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, every girl knows that once lifetime is on, good luck turning it off! It's ridiculous seeing as how most of them are not even of decent quality. For example, the one I just watched was clearly from the 90's and had John Stamos in it (must have been his first gig after <i>Full House</i>) and the acting is horrendous! And the titles...the last one was <i>Fatal Vowels</i> and I just broke the cardinal rule of LMN and watched more than 3 minutes of the next movie, cleverly titled <i>Fatal Error </i>and now I'm hooked. DAMN YOU LMN!!!!!!]<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So - I've decided that tomorrow is as good a day as any to get it all done! And the doggers agree...<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;">After "pinning" a variety of different cakes throughout the past week or so (and the above pictured don't even scratch the surface of the variety I looked at), I flipped back through yesterday and not one said "Pick Me". I enlisted the help of my mom – some things we agreed on, some we did not, but she has given me full creative lead on the cake and while, nice, I also felt it was a burden as I had only narrowed 150 million choices to about 150 thousand! So, after filtering a few more yesterday throughout the day and after flipping through some magazines at the grocery store last night (as if the millions of online options weren't enough to send me into cake insanity), I decided to ask B…</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;">The option hadn't really occurred to me before because we know what the Groom's cake is going to look like and I figured as long as he liked the taste of the Bride's cake, he probably wouldn't give the style of it a passing thought. I was almost even a little surprised when he didn't seem defeated at the suggestion (ahem) of browsing through some cake design photos online last night! It actually really helped and we knocked a few styles out of the running rather quickly and with that we scanned through another few pages of pictures on theknot.com and "ahhhhhh" (heavenly voices singing), there it was… Ok, well maybe it wasn't quite that obvious, but after zooming in on the picture, I decided with a couple of tweeks, I do indeed think it could be all we've ever dreamed of in a cake. (I have a flare for the dramatics seeing as how I don't think I've ever dreamed of cake in my life, with the exception of the past few days, as this task has overwhelmed me…). MISTAKE! I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with it, so in the mix of moving, wedding planning, etc., I pushed it to the back burner. Our puppy Timmy however, has re-motivated me... The kid has some energy and as I always wished Chloe would run with me, I decided that if I was going to turn him into a running partner, sooner would be better than later! I've somewhat initiated him into the habit of it over the past couple of weeks and he is getting the hang of it!<br />
<br />
I have a couple of friends that are involved in Team in Training. I'd love to participate in a group such as that, but the fundraising aspect of it is difficult for me, time-wise. Regardless, my friends have been a huge inspiration and they somehow convinced me that I could do it. What the hell, right? ;) So - on January 1st 2009 I decided I'd sign up for a half marathon. How hard could it be! I'm sure many of you have heard of the "Couch to 5K" program, well - I jumped from couch to 13.1! I mean, I worked out pretty regularly, but I had never enjoyed running, let alone running long distances. I gave myself 2.5 months to prepare and that March I ran my first half marathon. I had bronchitis a week before and my lungs were still feeling it that morning, but my amazing friend Shannon stuck through it with me and coached/motivated me the whole way!<br />
<br />
A few things I quickly learned:<br />
<br />
- TMI, but running jostles things up a bit and between carb loads and being in constant motion for 13.1 miles, it's a good thing pit stops are placed along the way! ;)<br />
- Do not, I repeat....DO NOT go stagnant after a long run. Stretch immediately! It's going to hurt and it won't be fun but 2 hours later, 24 hours later and above all, 2 days later your body will appreciate it. I half-assed stretched after my first 13.1 and I was definitely sorry!<br />
- Walk or take an easy jog the next day. Your body will thank you!<br />
- Do not be intimidated by other runners. Marathon runners come in every shape, size and/or age. People 300 lbs and/or 75 plus years may pass you. Smile as they pass and push yourself to keep up!<br />
- Thoughts that may go through your mind while running a distance run:<br />
1. Adrenaline: Holy crap...lots of music, cameras, cheering...let's do this! SO MUCH FUN!<br />
2. Crowd spreading out some, get your running groove, no problem.<br />
3. Hmmm, my body is feeling it, but I've trained for this, so I know I can keep going...let's go.<br />
4. If I have to run up one more hill....$&^#(&<br />
5. Ah, downhill! ;) Make up some time.<br />
6. I'm hungry...<br />
7. I'm thirsty...<br />
8. Biofreeze anyone?<br />
9. Oh - only 3.1 miles left? Got this!<br />

<br />
The second half I did was over my birthday weekend this year. Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon! Traveled to Orlando and ran through disney world! ZOMG!! So amazing! I had a better idea what to expect, but this race was packed! Half-way through I ran through the castle at Magic Kingdom. Definitely a highlight of my life! :) Mostly a women's run, but there were a few gentlemen dressed up in their princess gear. There was even a guy in a full frog suit with a sign on his back saying "accepting kisses from princesses!" There was plenty to keep me laughing and going the whole way!<br />

I have 2 medals hanging up on my wall now! In March, B and I did a 5K together. He's never really run much, but he did great and we had a fun time together! I'm still trying to work him up to run a half with me, but he still laughs every time I approach the subject! haha. We'll see! I plan on running another race in a couple of months. Another 1/2. Everyone keeps asking me if I'll ever do a full. My response?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MhEE76m-e1U/TpOzCzDXBMI/AAAAAAAAAr4/3M-6-p19LM8/s1600/13.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MhEE76m-e1U/TpOzCzDXBMI/AAAAAAAAAr4/3M-6-p19LM8/s1600/13.1.jpg" /></a></div>
Really though - I don't know that I'll ever take on a full. I'd like to...but running really is hard. And time consuming (which is great motivation to run faster...ha). I feel pretty decent after a half. Sore, yes but able to move. I really think I might die if I tried to run 26.2. We'll see though. Honestly, 2 years ago I'd never even think I'd be able to say I could go 13.1 miles...at once!<br />
<br />
Again - it is hard. Hence the "hate" part of the relationship I have with running. It is excellent for your health though and as long as you stretch and take care of yourself, your body will adapt to handling it. A little motivation/humor regarding running....<br />

And last, but not least...my current "like" to go along with the theme of this post:<br />
www.rockmyrun.com<br />
Free (like no catch kinda free) playlist downloads. Great fun running music! Can't wait to listen to mine tomorrow morning!<br />
<br />
Go run people - the weather is cooling off and you'll be happy you did. And when you wake up to head out the door for your run - call me to make sure I'm up and on my way out as well, please! ;) ha. Thanks and gig 'em!<br />
<br />
Until next time,<br />

Happy Friday!! <br />
I've been itching to blog lately. Sooo much is going on these days. I know, I sound like a broken record...the busy little bee. I do love keeping busy, but I may have out done myself this time! B keeps me laughing through it all though. A little chat we had the other day went something like this:<br />
<br />
B: Wow, honey...we have so much going on and so much to do...<br />
L: Really....??? We?<br />
B: Well, you sure do, so I feel like I do and I have to tell you, it stresses me out!<br />
<br />
Hahahahaha. Comedic relief! I swear, I should really keep a blog just for some of the email/phone/text conversations we exchange sometimes...<br />
<br />
A glimpse into our life recently:<br />
<br />
-Wedding: We're registered! Well, mostly...I'll get to that in a moment.<br />
-House: Operation BUY A HOUSE!!! I'm so excited! We have our realtor already and once we get our pre-approval, we'll officially begin the hunt! AHHHHH YEAHHHHH!!!!<br />
-Dog-sitting...I'll get to that too<br />
-Babies! Babies! BABIES!!: Holy baby fever....how could I NOT have it a little right now when I'm surrounded by them! haha. Mary had Andy and I got to meet him this weekend. It's a little ridiculous how perfect he is! I'm in love! Then there's my little Landon Love! He's almost 1!! I don't even know where the year went. He is starting to get a little mischievous and he has totally got it figured out that his handsome little smile will get him out of a lot! hahaha. I love it! Can't wait 'til his party! And not even a month after that, Emme turns 1! They grow up way too fast! (Disclaimer: Yes, I admitted to baby fever. No...THERE WILL BE NOT BE ANY LITTLE LISA'S OR BRANDON'S RUNNING AROUND <b>ANY</b> TIME SOON!)<br />
-Anniversaries: Mom & Dad hit 30 years in October! :) We plan on spending the day wit them that weekend to celebrate! :)<br />
-Friends: Brandon's buddy is coming to town in a couple of weeks to visit for the Arkansas/A&M game. We'll be tailgating again this year with the bus, so should be a good time! And - Lindsey will be in town for the OU/Texas game, so we plan to go to the fair together! Yippee!!<br />
Then this week alone is Shecky's on Wednesday, Maroon 5 on Friday, Horseshoe Tourney on Saturday annnnnd company picnic on Sunday!<br />
-Engagement Photos: October 23rd...can't wait!<br />
<br />
(And that's the short version...)<br />
<br />
Dog Sitting: Soooooo..I thought it'd be a great idea to dog sit the entire month of September. I'm not exaggerating...literally the entire month of September! When I say dog-sitting for dummies, I mean... don't dog-sit for a month! haha. Of course, this isn't something that happens often and I was glad to be able to help out both good friends that needed it, so it's no problem, but it has been an adventure! Gus and Walter were at the beginning of the month. Gus is my FAVORITE dog other than my two...he may actually be tied with Timmy... ;) He's a 130lb Rottweiler/lap dog! He had a seizure while I was over there one night and I about had a heart attack!! Luckily all is well and he's back to eating everything in sight and ramming his toosh in your face so that you'll scratch it, but it sure did freak me out!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UDqkrowYIAk/TnfzXdaNlbI/AAAAAAAAArY/vpNZd5V4G9Q/s1600/lisa+and+gus.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UDqkrowYIAk/TnfzXdaNlbI/AAAAAAAAArY/vpNZd5V4G9Q/s320/lisa+and+gus.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">His eyes don't normally glow like that... ;)<br /><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Now, I'm in McKinney watching Amanda's dogs. They're all pretty good...a little "chatty", but good. The drive is a kicker, but ya know... Klondike is Amanda's oldest dog. I can't remember how old exactly but probably about 14i-sh and he reminds me of Shellie when she was in her golden years. He's a little grumpy, but mostly just slow and snuggly and I love him! :)<br />
<br />
Registering for Dummies: If you didn't already know Brides and/or Moms-to-be...Don't register at Target. I did, but I'm about to undo it and register elsewhere. Thanks to best friend, I discovered that their return policy is a nightmare! Another tidbit...if you're comfortable with it, register ONLINE!! We spent 3+ hours in Bed, Bath & Beyond and I don't even feel like we got through half the store. We left, I cam home and finished it up online AND included 2 other stores. So much less of a hassle and I didn't feel the pressure of possibly missing something. It was all right there for me. I've since been to the stores to check it out in person and loved it all just as much then. It's nice that now-a-days you can also update your registries online at any time!<br />
<br />
Well - it was a long weekend! Soon I'll get pictures up of Andy, but for now I'm going to finish up my dinner and do some much deserved relaxing!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BSZTKHzHYic/Tnf12bvyo-I/AAAAAAAAArc/SCBoy0PDFIw/s1600/dinner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BSZTKHzHYic/Tnf12bvyo-I/AAAAAAAAArc/SCBoy0PDFIw/s320/dinner.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Salad offsets the wine, right? ;)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And one last thing...Lisa's Latest Like: Get a Kindle. I thought I'd hate it...best thing that I ever got...ahem, that Brandon ever got. Good thing we've already adapted the theory of "what's yours is mine". :)<br />
<br />
I think I rambled a little tonight, but thanks for letting me get it all out! Whew!<br />
<br />
Upcoming: Football thoughts, Crock-Pots and DIY projects...oh, and pictures...hopefully lots and lots of pictures! :)<br />
<br />
Peace out!<br />

Instead, tonight I will be hanging out with little little sis, packing for a quick trip to Houston to visit baby Andy (yes, he's here...more details to follow) and prepping to get my craft on. Pinterest has spiked my desire to get a little more crafty, so I'll be making some gifts for upcoming events/parties and we'll see how it goes! The weeks have been very busy lately and the weekend was great, but jam packed with family and friends, so we decided to really just relax today. We sat down to eat lunch and decided to watch Marley & Me, which B hasn't seen. Before we started it, he said "aren't you going to cry though?" and I responded with "no, I don't think so. I've seen it enough..." WRONG! And to make it worse...as I'm trying to hold in the sniffles and tears, Chloe looks up and stares at me, which only causes me to cry a little more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: auto;"><br />
</div><div>Chloe is my #1!! I got her as a birthday present for my 20th birthday. She's been with me almost 8 years now and they have been the craziest 8 years of my life, full of finding my way and growing up. She's been the biggest constant throughout it all. If you're not a dog person, Marley & Me does an amazing job of portraying the relationship between a dog and its "owner". And if you are a dog person the movie and book alike will surely hit home! Regardless of how many times you've read or seen it. It also resonated a little more since our addition of Timmy to the family! He's been known to be a little terror from time to time but he sure is a lover and it was just a reminder that he could be a lot worse.<br />
<br />
Now that Chloe is getting a little older it always makes my heart drop a bit when I see her struggle to get up after laying down for a while, when she slides on the hardwood floor and can't catch her balance or when she needs a boost into my car or up onto the bed. I think Timmy has definitely pepped her up a bit, which was the hope, but I just felt like watching that movie again was a good reminder of how I sometimes take her for granted sometimes. She's so mild mannered and chill these days that I think Timmy gets the bulk of the attention lately. I know most people will read this and say "does she realize she's talking about a dog?!?!" and I get that, but they are definitely my fur-babies! And I don't know what I'd do without them, especially my Chloe!<br />

So - Chloe will be snuggling in bed tonight instead of sleeping on the floor. I think she deserves a little extra special treatment! Give your dog/pet an extra little pet, treat or belly scratch when you can!<br />

Life Recently:<br />
<br />
Went to China Springs, TX a couple of weekends ago to see Chris and Kayla tie the knot! Ah yeah! It was a lot of fun and we're super happy for them. Chris and Kayla definitely get the dog thing...in fact, Rowdy, their Golden Retriever was IN the wedding as the best man! Haha. He was so handsome and well behaved (Rowdy, that is).<br />

</div><div>B and I went to Arlington this weekend to spend time with the fam! My Poppy Bear and Aunt Mary Beth were in town from Philly. We laughed so hard all weekend! My cheeks were kind of sore even yesterday from smiling and laughing so much! It was a very nice treat and it was a great reminder of how hilarious my family is! </tbody></table>Also went to see <i>The Help</i> this weekend. Read the book and loved it, but of course the movie is never as good as the book. It was still a pretty good movie and I'm glad I got to go see it finally. I love watching books brought to life by movies, even if they aren't ever as good. It's fun seeing if the characters look like what you picture them as and the things they change, omit and/or add. Currently reading the <i>Hunger Games</i> Trilogy (which would be my "latest like"). Finished the first one in a day more or less and already about half way through the second one. I absolutely love it and can't wait to see where it all goes! I love reading for pleasure and am super grateful I have a little extra time to do so right now. Well, I take that back, I don't really have the extra time, but I'm adjusting well to the additional lack of sleep, so it's ok! ;) <div><br />
</div><div>About to go read a little more right now and then prep for the upcoming week! Lots going on and Mary's 2nd baby shower is next weekend in Houston. Still a few more things to get together for that, but so excited!</div><div><br />
</div><div>Have a great week!<br />

It's crazy how fast time flies by!</div><div> </div><div>Where to begin?</div><div> </div><div>Wedding Planning: </div><div> </div><div>Some things I've learned....</div><div> </div><div>1. If I have daughter's one day, I will HIGHLY encourage destination weddings! With that being said - here's to having boys!</div><div> </div><div>2. DIY projects seem like a lot of fun and somehow they are all "just 4-10 easy steps", yet they NEVER turn out like those pictures!</div><div> </div><div>3. In reference to above - video tutorials are much more effective (still not 100%)</div><div> </div><div>4. All boys care about (ie Dad and Brandon) is whether or not the girls (mom, me and sisters) are fighting and when the cake tastings are.</div><div> </div><div>5. There are too many options...I feel like I'm in an endless sea of veils, shoes, cake designs, dresses, flowers, centerpieces, invitations, dj's..oh my!</div><div><br clear="all" />6. There's something called a house party - and I'm going to have one! ;) <a href="http://bellsandbouquets.blogspot.com/2010/01/whats-house-party-and-what-do-they-wear.html" target="_blank">http://bellsandbouquets.<wbr>blogspot.com/2010/01/whats-<wbr>house-party-and-what-do-they-<wbr>wear.html</a> (I had intentions on dedicating a full blog on this subject matter, however time has been about as scarce as rain or sub 100 degree weather in Dallas, lately, so read about it if you care to know more!) The members of said house party have yet to be notified.</div><div> </div><div>7. Which leads me to, yes, people do ask if they can be in your wedding/invited to your wedding. I'm not talking about a friend saying "um, am I going to be in the wedding", but people actually saying "can my kids be your ring bearer/flower girl" or "need an extra bridesmaid?" or "We're invited, right?!?!" A-W-K-W-A-R-D. I'm almost certain there is an etiquette pertaining to these things...people should read up on that kind of stuff!</div><div> </div><div>8. Don't sign a contract too soon! We got luck with getting our deposit back from the first venue we chose. We're now officially contracted with the<a href="http://www.clubcorp.com/Clubs/Las-Colinas-Country-Club/Weddings-Events/Weddings" target="_blank"> Las Colinas Country Club</a> and I couldn't be happier! It's Ah-mazing! </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>9. I know how people make full time livings off of planning these events and I should really consider a career change/starting up a business, because stuff really shouldn't be as expensive as some of these places make it! I would make a killing in the wedding business. </div><div> </div><div>10. I'm so glad I know that B is without a doubt THE ONE because I am NEVER putting my self through this mess again! ha.</div><div> </div><div>I've already notified the girls that will be my bridesmaids. My sisters, my cousin Alyssa and of course Mary will be my MOH. Brandon knows 3 of the 4, so we'll wait to make that announcement! haha. And yes, as I mentioned I will be having a house party to honor and recognize all the amazing girl friends that I have who have been there through it all and if Brandon had, hmmm...15ish(?) really close guy friends, they'd be bridesmaids! haha. They haven't been told who they are yet, so still TBA.</div><div> </div><div>August is booked up, September is starting to and there's already 2 weekends in October even that we have plans (one of which will be our engagement session). Last weekend was Mary's Mansfield Baby Shower. </div><div> </div><div> </div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table><div>Got to see a couple of old friends from high school and college and it was SOOOO great seeing Mary (and Andy) and getting to spend some time with the Bridges! The Houston shower is in 2 weeks! This weekend coming up is Chris and Kayla's wedding in Waco! I'm super excited as I know it will be a blast. They are 2 blasts in a glass, so it's 2x the fun really. And there's sure to be some fist pumping, so really, you can't ask for a better time! haha.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Brandon's b-day was this week. I've been bursting trying to keep in the surprise b-day gift I got him/us. We had dinner at the Dallas Executive Airport and THEN...went on a sight-seeing FLIGHT over Dallas! We were in one of those teeeeeny tiiiiiny airplanes, but neither one of us were nervous. It was something fun and different and way better then cologne and a dvd, I'm sure! ;) PLUS we had perfect timing with the sunset and I got some really incredible pictures!</div><div> </div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I am wedding'd OUT right now!!! I spent a large portion of yesterday doing wedding stuff and then went to the Dallas Bridal Show with my mom and two sisters today. So - I'm going to doing a little wedding detox before thinking about it again...at least for a day or two! ;)<br />
<br />
So, in other news I'm also planning a baby shower (or 2). Mary's first baby shower is here in the DFW on Saturday. I'm super excited because I got one of the best presents she's going to get. Mary - I know you'll read this...and no, it's not on your registry, but I hope you love it (and I'm pretty sure you will!!). Still working out a few last details on her Houston shower at the end of August! I'm pretty excited about it and can't wait to see how it all comes together. It's nice to have a distraction from the wedding planning.<br />
<br />
I think I'm going to start a new topic when I blog. It'll be the "new cool thing" of the week or month or whenever I find something cool. I REALLY need to come up with a catchier nickname for it, but for now we'll go with "Lisa's Latest Likes." I already mentioned instagram a week or so ago and the latest is Pinterest. Website: www.pinterest.com. You download the application to your bookmark tool bar and then when you're browsing the internet and see something you like, be it an arts and crafts project, a fun date night idea, a DIY project, wedding decoration ideas, etc. you can "pin it". It saves the picture to your page and you can follow others and browse the pictures they've pinned and then visit the websites if it strikes your interest. It's harder to explain then it is just to go look at the website, but I'm a little addicted now and it's a GREAT way to share ideas! There's also a phone app for it! What did we do before smart phones?<br />
<br />
SYTYCD: Just have to say that I'm loving the direction it's headed. Melanie and Sasha are phenomenal and there's no doubt they'll be the top 2 girls with Tad and Marko most likely being the top 2 dudes. I'm about 98% positive Melanie is going to win though. She's incredible! Why is reality tv so addicting? We're also sucked into Master Chef right now too. Definitely entertaining, but I can't say that I'm quite as invested into who wins that one.<br />
<br />
Exciting things coming up this week:<br />
<br />
Brandon's best friend James is moving back to Dallas. So excited for him and pretty excited about seeing less super hero movies! ;)<br />
Also - Brandon's bday is a little over a week away. I am SOOOOO ecstatic about what we're doing, but it's a secret, so you'll have to wait until after his bday to find out what it is!<br />
Nothing much planned, meaning I can get back into my normal workout schedule! Pushing the AM workouts again and although an adjustment, I'm enjoying having the evenings back!Lisa Turnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16149274749002575832noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824375517340472621.post-69867306674561884302011-07-27T23:08:00.001-05:002011-07-27T23:08:44.053-05:00Out of Sight, Out of MindHello Blogger World...<br />
<br />
I've missed you so...however my precious little puppy decided to have a midnight snack...that snack was my $85 macbook charger. So...I was computer-less for a few days. That is NO fun!<br />
<br />
So much to catch up on:<br />
<br />
-Wedding Plans/Planning<br />
-Baby Showers<br />
-Birthdays<br />
-Weddings<br />
-Job Hunting<br />
-Working Out/Running<br />
-Football<br />
....oh my!<br />
<br />
Unfortunately I have an early morning wake up call awaiting, so I can't really get into it all now, but I'm off on Friday, so hopefully I'll be able to catch everyone up on all of our shenanigans.<br />
<br />
Until then...<br />

Today was national ice cream day. Who knew?! I'm not a major sweet lover, but boy oh boy do I love me some ice cream, or frozen yogurt. You know those ideas you come across where you think "Why didn't I have that idea?!?" I think that every time I go into a do-it-yourself frozen yogurt shop. The ones where you pick your flavor and your own toppings and they charge you by weight! Oh man, I'd be rich right now! In honor of national ice cream day, we decided to splurge a little and go for some froyo at one of our favorite's: Tutti Frutti. It comes second to Yogurt Mountain in Little Rock! So delicious! I top mine like a 5 year old with sprinkles, gummy bears and nerds. B usually just puts some sort of chocolatey candy topping in his. Ew. ;) He already mixed his up before the picture, but he had reese's pieces today. It was the perfect ending to a pretty great day and weekend!<br />

</div><div>I can't believe I'm writing 2 posts in 1 day, but I have a feeling it may turn into a pretty busy week and so I figured I'd finish getting everything out that I didn't have time to write this morning. </div><div><br />
</div><div>First order of business: Harry Potter! We said a final and bittersweet farewell! :( I cried...like 3 times. There wasn't much emphasis on the sadder parts of the story, but I just knew that each scene was a step closer to the end. I really enjoyed it though and thought it was very well done. We decided to go see it in IMAX 3-D. Welllllll...apparently people were still waiting in line 2 hours early even on this Sunday afternoon so we were stuck in the front row. By the end I had a head, neck and back ache. And even with the constant chatter of our theater neighbors, it still managed to be fun. *On Soap Box* Can I just say that I have no tolerance for rude movie-goers?!? Oh man, not much irks me more then chatters, bag rustlers and phone users during a movie. *Off Soap Box*</div><div><br />
</div><div>As promised...some pictures from last night's girls night! We really did have a lot of fun watching and even participating a bit. Karaoke is never a dull time! Neither is any time spent with Shannon, Alina and Kelsey. Heather probably thinks my friends are nuts, but they kinda are! It's why we get along so famously! :) </div><div><br />

</tbody></table><div>Wedding Planning Update: Mom and I are going to the Dallas Bridal Fair the last weekend in July. I'm pretty excited about getting some ideas and checking out some vendors. We have a deposit on our venue, but haven't signed the contract yet. Dare we peek at some other venues while we're there? Hmmm...maybe. ;) I love our place for the reception, but it really wasn't meant for ceremonies. We definitely want a one-stop shop though with all of the out-of-towners, so we'll just have to see what happens. Colors are picked, centerpieces picked and I got my shoes for the big day. OMG - I am in love with them. :) I'll be telling all the details about the bridal party soon too, so stay tuned! </div><div><br />
</div><div>That's all for now! Sweet dreams and I hope you all have a fantastic week! :) </div>Lisa Turnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16149274749002575832noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824375517340472621.post-38131298535568647232011-07-17T10:24:00.000-05:002011-07-17T10:24:42.207-05:00Life is Just a Bowl of CherriesAnother week has come and gone....time seems to be flying by lately and it seems like there is ALWAYS so much to do!<br />
<br />
I'm not going to lie; it's been a bit of a stressful week! Brandon and I have been talking about making a move to Northwest Arkansas. Without getting into all the details of it, we've talked quite a bit about it and it seems as if it could be a good move for us. There are tons of jobs in the area, but turns out, out-of-state hiring isn't ideal for most employers. It's been an interesting experience so far, but we're just scratching the surface of it. Still doing some research, checking out places we could live, etc, so we'll see what happens. Between that, work, pups, trying to maintain a social life, planning a baby shower and planning a wedding, I'm not too proud to say it's kind of kicking my butt right now. But, it's a part of life and I'm excited to see where it all leads.<br />
<br />
Yes, I did mention a baby shower in the mix. My best friend Mary has a bun in the oven! Come October I'll be self-acclaimed, honorary Aunt Lisa to Andrew Keith Stagner, aka Andy! I hate living so far from her for this whole experience and I can't wait to see her at the shower in August! My sister and I made the invitations and they look fantastic! I'll have to post pictures of them after the event...Mary doesn't know where the shower is yet, so can't spoil the surprise! ;) It's been a nice distraction from wedding planning though and I'm really excited to see it all come together! Don't get any ideas, but baby stuff is so much fun to look at!<br />
<br />
It's been a week of friends and family too. On Tuesday night I got to go to dinner with my friend Amanda and her son Landon (my Godson). It's incredible how fast he is growing up and he somehow manages to get cuter and cuter every time! I can't believe he'll be 1 soon! It was great catching up and I got to see Amanda's new cassia. OMG! Hello gorgeous house!!<br />
<br />
My cousin is in town this weekend. We hung out with my mom and sisters on Friday night and then stayed up until 4am catching up. Just like when we were kids. Saturday we took our "neighborhood grandma" and met up with my mom's friend and her mother and went to play bingo! My mom invited us to go, so we figured, why not? Out of the 6 of us, we didn't win a penny! Got close a bunch, but no luck. It was a lot of fun though! Some of those people mean serious business! I had no idea how advanced bingo has become - they now have electronic computer tabs that more or less play for you. You only have to hit one button every time a number is called....I figure sooner or later they'll have an app you can download at the bingo hall and you can just play on your phone!<br />

There is so much that goes into planning a wedding and it's all very exciting! And by exciting I mean stressful...in a good(ish) way. </div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">I grew up in a family of women. It's an experience! Not only do I only have sisters, but I have 2...making us 3. Ever heard of 3's a crowd? Yeah - well, true story! I love both of my sisters more than anything in this world, but the 3 of us together always gets interesting and then when you throw mom in the mix...well, let's just say I'm pretty sure there's a very special place in heaven for my Daddy! I'm also pretty sure that he's ecstatic about adding a male member to the family! When us girls get into our "talks" (aka bickering) those two just hang back and watch/tune us out. It's a beautiful dynamic! :) </div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">So - according to one sister (the one who hasn't been around for any of the planning thus far), I'm a bridezilla. According to the other (who has been around a little more) I'm an easy going bride-to-be. No idea what mom thinks! We did however pick a venue in one weekend and a photographer in one day. That's not too bad, right? ;) </div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Our date is May 26th. It's the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. We wanted to have the long weekend in order to allow all of our out-of-state guests to possibly make a bit of a vacation out of the event. Now - I have NEVER wanted a summer wedding. A fall wedding was always my dream. Well, the more I get into this planning, date, setting, arranging, etc. I've adopted the mindset of "it's not about the day, it's about the lifetime." Just meaning that - yes, this is the day that every girl dreams of for their entire life, but really this is about the bigger picture. This is about me finding the person I want to spend the rest of my life with and while I do want some things exactly as I imagined them to be, I've also learned to be flexible with a lot as well. Summer works best for our teacher friends, our traveling family members and our parents. May is a bit of a scary month in TX though - then again...ANY month in Dallas could hold ANY type of weather conditions, so it may be 100+, raining, 50-, snowing, or a pleasant 85 and sunny on our wedding day. It is what it is. </div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The part that I'm most excited about so far is our photographer!! Rebecca took photography classes in high school and her teacher now has a studio/business in addition to her teaching job. She is INCREDIBLE! Every time she posts new pictures on her blog or her Facebook page, I tend to tear up at the beauty of them! She just has an eye for beauty and capturing the moment. Plus she does a lot of fun stuff too and not to toot our own horns, but B and I are pretty FUN (not to mention hilarious) people and I think Sharon will do an amazing job capturing our personalities, our crazy families and of course our good looks! ;) Check her out: <a href="http://www.ellmanphotography.com/">Ellman Photography</a> We're planning to do our engagements in October once the weather cools down and we can enjoy a day outside. We'll be sending save-the-dates shortly there after. </div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">I've been debating on a wedding website. I know it takes a bit of time to put together and there are SO many options out there. Any suggestions for a good personal wedding website?? I think it will be helpful to have something where all of our family members can get all the info they need on accommodations, things to do in the area, etc. </div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">So the gloves have been thrown and the games have begun. I have no doubt that the next 10 months are going to fly by and I can't wait to experience (and hopefully enjoy) all that is to come in planning one day. Whew - why am I not doing a destination wedding again?!?!?! ;) </div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">So for all of you who have been begging for pictures....</div></div><br />

<br />
Fourth of July weekend. I can't tell you how excited I was about the 3 day weekend. Work for both B and I has been a bit of a beating lately and therefore a huge understatement to say we were ecstatic and oh so ready for the extra day off. The weekend started off on a high note with a movie date night and anticipation for the bar-b-q's, pool time, friends and family and relaxation to come the rest of the weekend. We had our normal Saturday of errands and chores and then the big shocker came on Saturday night when Brandon popped the question. YAY!!!!! Yes, yes...we're getting married!<br />
<br />
It was simple and sweet and perfect! We were both shaking and were so excited to finally tell our friends and all of our family. I say finally because we've been keeping a little secret...him more successfully then myself. We've actually been planning a wedding for a little over a month now. I've been too excited so I'm sure a few of you already had a clue of what was to come, but now the secret is out. Brandon spoke to my parents a few months ago and asked for their blessing and we began talking about making the next step and with that came talk of when we'd want to get married and with that the talk of how all of both of our families are out of state. With that being the case we wanted a holiday weekend that allowed for the travelers to have a little extra time from work and what-not, so we decided on Memorial day weekend 2012 and have had our venue booked for about a month now. So - the anxiety was killing me of when he'd actually get the ring and make things official. I was shocked and was not expecting it that night at all! It took a little while to set in and after calling our parents and letting our friends know I began to tear up with the reality of it all! It was late and we hadn't really eaten all day, so we decided we'd go grab a late dinner (something I usually veto). When we got home we walked the kiddos and I mentioned that m y tummy was hurting a little....<br />
<br />
Friends, family, random readers...this is where we go from <i>flashy </i>to <i>flushy</i>. You want these moments in your life to be glamourous and to be able to tell the fairytale story. Well, B and I don't swing that way. We like to keep things interesting and humorous. And what's more humorous then getting proposed to and being hit with a severe (I'm so not exaggerating) case of food poisoning. I wanted to spend the next day getting a mani and pedi to go with the bling so I could show off to all my friends and family at the bbq's and firework shows. Noooooope. TMI alert: I spent the time between 1am and approximately 6pm the next evening, what do they say, calling Ralph on the big white phone? You get what I mean. I was violently ill. Finally woke B up around 4am and he was truly there for me. I don't get sick much and especially in such an unglamorous way and I was so happy the ring was already on my finger, otherwise he may have never done it after seeing me such a mess! He really was great though and I know more than ever just how much he loves me!<br />
<br />
I called into work sick today as after not eating for over 48 hours I don't have any energy at all and I still feel kinda "ew". So, at 4 am this morning I heard B um..."calling Ralph". :( My poor boy. So today we both spent miserable, at home feeling a little more like zombies than humans.<br />
<br />
We did manage to make it to my parents house for a bit to let the dogs run around and get worn out and we were also able to catch a glimpse of fireworks from our front yard. It's the small things in life and all in all, I'd say that it was still an amazing weekend and probably one of the most memorable. So many big things happening now. I'll be sure to blog more with pictures and plans, but for now I think we're going to sit on our separate couches, sip on some pedialite and ginger ale and watch some more movies until we're up and running again. Wish us luck!<br />
<br />
Hope that you all had a safe, wonderful and stomach virus-free holiday weekend!Lisa Turnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16149274749002575832noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824375517340472621.post-29135115405894868002011-06-29T21:54:00.000-05:002011-06-29T21:54:41.677-05:00So You Think You...Have a Voice?Huh??<br />

Time to make a confession. I have a guilty little pleasure...or two. The Voice and SYTYCD. Oh how I loooove summer time talent shows! Growing up in choir, theater and dance, I just can't help it!<br />
<br />
America got it right on the voice. Javier Colon (pronounced "cologne", but what an unfortunate spelling!) was crowned the winner. Go team Adam! I was very happy that Dia Frampton was a very close second. She'll go far in her career, but I'm ready for Javier's first album. Mmmm...I could fall asleep to his voice. Ahem, sorry...got lost in thought there for a moment. ;)<br />
He's not bad on the eyes either though.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-05pN6wQhDYw/Tgvghhk6dSI/AAAAAAAAAkw/eYgphffpuYs/s1600/javier.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-05pN6wQhDYw/Tgvghhk6dSI/AAAAAAAAAkw/eYgphffpuYs/s1600/javier.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>I am a little sad that the show is over until next season though. It means I don't get my weekly dose of Adam Levine.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SWSvDbDlqKo/TgvhYraJluI/AAAAAAAAAk0/j5VczRLiMMc/s1600/adam.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SWSvDbDlqKo/TgvhYraJluI/AAAAAAAAAk0/j5VczRLiMMc/s320/adam.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I mean...whoa! ;)<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;"><br />
</span></span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>So - I must say that The Voice > American Idol! Like, by far! Not that I've watched AI in about 4ish years, but The Voice is definitely a better concept! 'Cept for Christina... She is sadly a hot mess these days. Kinda minus the hot though!<div><br />
</div><div>Now - onto an even more exciting show. So You Think You Can Dance. LOVER it!! Great season so far too. However, it is always disappointing to me when one of my favorite and one of my least favorite dancers get paired together. This year, it's Miranda and Robert. Not only does Miranda look like she's from Who-ville and has a super gummy smile (pet peeve), I don't think she's all that fantastic. The judges just love her though. Robert on the other hand is charming, genuine and a pretty fantastic dancer! He makes me smile!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bUTgeyXnCu8/Tgvjj003ZfI/AAAAAAAAAk4/6vnIEZhTS34/s1600/Miranda_Robert.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="93" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bUTgeyXnCu8/Tgvjj003ZfI/AAAAAAAAAk4/6vnIEZhTS34/s320/Miranda_Robert.png" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is a very flattering picture of her...<br />
<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>Now - I think Melanie and Marko may be my all-time favorite couple! Both amazing, adorable and ridiculously talented. I'll just go ahead and admit (since I'm in a confession giving state of mind) that I am one of those that will never vote for these shows, but get mad when my favorites don't win. I know, I know... Anywho - here's a picture of Melanie and Marko...vote for them...for me! ;)</div><div><br />

<br />
Father's Day: Went to A-town to hang out at the pool with the family. I have to give kudos to my daddy-o! He was a champ and let us ALL bring our dogs. So it was his 2, plus my uncle's dog, plus Amanda's sometimes dog and then our 2. With 6 pups running around, fighting, barking and swimming there was not a dull moment! It was a great day!<br />

</tbody></table>Last Weekend: We watched my sister's doggy. Well - it's the doggy that she watches when her friend is at drum corp every summer. He's really ugly but it makes him kinda cute. He's also super smart and I think once he's trained he'd be an awesome dog. Lesson learned though - until we have tons of land...we are a 2 dog max. family! Whew...they were a lot of work! Timmy and Bart were non-stop all weekend. I get worn out just thinking of them!<br />
<br />
Next Weekend: Fun and Fireworks! I'm pretty excited about the 4th of July! We're thinking about going to a Rough Riders game again this year. But we'll definitely catch a couple of fireworks shows and we'll head over to the 'rents for some bbq-ing!<br />
<br />
So, busy and fun filled weekends as usual. During the week I think we're both just trying to stay positive right now as far as work goes. Neither one of us are in an ideal situation and I just keep hoping and praying that we figure out what is the best for us and our fur-babies. Who knows...we've even discussed giving Arkansas a go! ;)<br />
<br />
I'm sure they'll be lots to update on next week at the long weekend. Have a great rest of the week and a safe and happy holiday!!!Lisa Turnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16149274749002575832noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4824375517340472621.post-87145460375459080202011-06-22T22:23:00.000-05:002011-06-22T22:23:22.744-05:00Are You Guilty?I am.... :( I'd be a liar if I said I've never read a text, checked an email or glanced Facebook on my phone while behind the wheel of a car. I think most people are guilty of it now-a-days. Everything is right at our fingertips.<br />
<br />
I think we forget that just because we don't drink and drive, or we have a good driving record, blah, blah, blah...it makes us a "safe" driver and people we forget that paying attention to our phone instead of the road is reckless driving.<br />
<br />
I don't get up on a soapbox often, but unfortunately sometimes it takes a hit that's too close to home for comfort to remind you. With that being said, my aunt was involved in a serious head on collision with a car who's driver was allegedly texting/checking email or something of the sort on his phone. Thank God for airbags, because they saved her life. In saving her life, they also took a toll on her face and she will need multiple surgeries to treat the chemical burns and broken bones, etc. that she now has.<br />
<br />
I'm not really the "serious" blogger, but figured to anyone who may read this...it's a good reminder. So many think it's a harmless action when really it costs lives.<br />

<div><br />
</div><div>B and I stopped by Petsmart tonight to enroll Timmy in puppy classes. Well, this guy walks in as we're talking to the trainer and it hurt just to look up at him. You could clearly see him over the aisles. I leaned over and whispered to B "He's taller than Dirk". We were in line behind them and he asked to pet Timmy and I thought Timmy was going to fall over backwards looking up at the guy...me too for that matter. He not-so-inconspicuously dropped "It's ok baby, this is on the Mavs" when his girlfriend tried paying for the dog food. He chatted with us for a few minutes about Timmy (I think he was trying to see if we recognized him) and then went on his merry way. </div><div><br />
</div><div>I searched a bunch of rosters and finally found him. His name was Alex Ajinca and he was on the Mavs at the beginning of the season but was traded to the Raptors. Doh! Guess he was still under some sort of compensation contract with the Mavs though. Anywho - point is, I was right...taller than Dirk! I've never felt so tiny in my life! I came up to his bellybutton approximately! Nice guy...I'm never washing Timmy's head again! Kidding... </div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</div><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Which brings me to the reason for this post! Brandon and I adopted a puppy last weekend. We've talked about it for a while and well…it just happened. He's not even really what we were looking for, but he picked us for sure! Anyone that knows me knows that I am a huge advocate of rescuing. It breaks my heart every day thinking of how many pups are stranded in the world or being put down at shelters. SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS, PEOPLE! **Off Soap Box**</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">So – of course, we rescued him and therefore have no idea really what he is. I'm guessing he definitely has some boxer in him, even though he was labeled as the default "we have no idea" breed of a "Shepherd Mix." I don't see it… I'm sticking with Boxer, but I have no idea what with. His paws are huge and he's 3 months old and weighs in at about 26 lbs, so I'm guessing he'll at least get to be about Chloe-sized. And, speaking of Chloe, she's not exactly in love with this idea yet. I've fostered and dog sat plenty of times, but it's as if she knows that little Mr. Timmy Turner is here to stay. I have a feeling though that once he isn't so interested in biting her ears and ankles; she'll lighten up some and really enjoy the company of another pup. I think it'll bring some life back into the old bird! ;) Timmy is super smart. He doesn't cry for too long when it's time for him to go into his crate. I worked with him last night on "sit" and he did great, but when we came in the house to show "dad" he was just too excited and would wiggle and almost get his toosh to the ground, but would jump up in excitement before he actually got down enough to receive a treat. It's a process getting them trained, but as Chloe is proof of, worth every minute. T and I will be working for 30-45 minutes (or until his attention is shot) every night on basic commands. It's fun having a project!</span></span><br />
